Summer’s just about here – I’m going to share some ideas I have with you for great summer activities in Toronto. The next warm day we have, pack a picnic, some sunglasses, grab your friends and GO!
Kensington Market – Take a wander through this amazing streetscape and enjoy some fresh eats from around the world. Recommended: (Chilean) Jumbo Empanada’s on Augusta Ave. Don’t miss: the funky shops and restaurants at the north end of Augusta near College and on Nassau west of Augusta.
High Park – Toronto has a cool motto – “A city within a park” and as the greenery blooms this becomes truer and truer. Get out on the bike or take a walk/blade/skateboard. A few parks and greenspaces of note: High Park, Riverdale Park, The Beaches, and last but certainly not least – the Islands (keep in mind both the cool lake breezes and the ferry charge).
University of Toronto – an oasis of green and historic buildings in the heart of the city. Start your journey at St. George or Queen’s Park subway stations. Don’t miss: Soldier’s Tower, King’s College Circle (College St), Philosopher’s Walk / Trinity College (adjacent the R.O.M. and Queen’s Park/Hoskins Ave/Bloor St West).
