I found this Pearson Publishing-sponsored educational project online and found it really inspiring. The students were asked to research a relative’s immigration story and document the interview in a class video. It all culminates in an emotional screening for friends and family. Michael Wesch – A Portal to Media Literacy
Wikipedia: Wesch is a cultural anthropologist and media ecologist exploring the effects of new media on human interaction… Currently he is the coordinator for the Peer Review of Teaching Project at Kansas State University, part of a broader nation-wide consortium of universities pursuing new ways to improve and evaluate student learning. He is also working with the Educause Center for Applied Research on “The Tower and the Cloud” project, examining “the question of how higher education institutions (The Tower) may interoperate with the emerging network-based business and social paradigm (The Cloud).”
Toronto Writer Don Tapscott – Digital Natives and Enterprise 2.0
Don has some written some interesting books, including “Wikinomics,” and “Grown Up Digital – How the Net Generation is changing Your World.” He is a booster of embracing computers and online technology and integrating it into educational and business environments. Here he speaks with the famous RocketBoom TV show about the nature of “the Net Generation” (or if you prefer, “digital natives”).
